Our Practice

Dr. Maly and staff believe preventative care and education are the keys to optimal dental health. We focus on thorough exams - that means we check the overall health of your teeth and gums, we perform oral cancer exams and take x-rays when necessary. We know how important your smile is to you and it matters to us too as does your health. We will review your medical history at every visit- this helps us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications you are taking and any illnesses that may impact your dental health.

**Please inform us if you are being treated for any illness or medical conditions.

Our office is committed to continual education and learning. We attend meetings and dental conventions to stay informed of new techniques, the latest products and technology. Infection control in our office is very important to us. We strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA).

It is our goal to help you maintain and improve your oral health. To help achieve this goal, the dental care that you and your family receive in our office includes state of the art equipment. Dr. Maly uses a small laser instrument called the DIAGNOdent which scans your teeth with harmless laser light searching for hidden decay. Locating hidden decay before it destroys tooth structure (from the inside out) is a major goal. The laser is safe, painless and effective, providing instant feedback on the health of the tooth. Early detection of problems minimize the expense related to major tooth repair.

Intraoral cameras are used in our office so that you can see what the hygienist and Dr. sees. This excellent tool helps you understand and be more educated about your oral health.

We want you to be comfortable in our office. Please do not hesitate to ask questions about your care and treatment plan. If you have a preferred Hygienist please contact Tricia when scheduling and we are happy to schedule or even re-schedule you if necessary.

Preparing for your visit

Please bring:

  • A list of medications you are taking; both over-the-counter and prescription medicines.
  • The name and phone number of your physician
  • The name and phone number of your previous dentist
  • Patients under 18 require a parent or guardian present to consent to treatment at the first visit.
  • Ashtma medication if you are asthmatic, Diabetic Glucose tabs if you are diabetic, Nitro tablets if you have a heart condition.

What to expect:

At your first appointment we will gather information and discuss your needs and concerns. Our New Patient exams typically consist of two appointments. At the first appointment you will receive a complete thorough exam by Dr. Maly and your hygienist and x-rays as needed. We will take appropriate X-rays at this appointment but if you have current x-rays, please bring them from your previous Dentist. *Keep in mind that Insurance companies will only pay for one set of full mouth X-rays every 3-5 years. At the second appointment, you will have your Initial Cleaning. There are occasions where we can combine these two appointments into one depending on our schedule and your needs.

*Your Oral health needs will dictate what type of cleaning is needed and how many visits you will need. If we have your current full set of X-rays then your new Patient exam and initial cleaning might possible be completed at the first appointment.

Insurance

If you have Insurance we encourage you to call your Insurance Company to find out what your dental benefits are, it is beneficial for you to understand your benefits which are very different from your medical benefits. Each Employer offers different benefit packages and some offer more than one option, if that is the case for you, please find out which option you have so you can let us know. When you call to schedule we will ask your employers name, address and phone number and we will request your Insurance Information so that we can verify your benefits prior to your visit. When you arrive, please bring your Insurance card with you. We are very happy to help you by submitting the claim to your insurance company for you. We will collect the percentage (out of pocket expense) due from you at the time of your appointment. The Insurance Company will send the check to us but if it comes to you by mistake, we thank you for getting that payment to us as soon as possible. If you have any Insurance questions, please feel free to call Tricia.
